NJCF offers 2 different prescription plans, one for active members and self pay retiree's (Level 2 or Level 3 Coverage) and one provided at no cost to retirees (Straight Retired Plan) who have not elected to purchase the self payment plan.
Prescription Plan Administered through Medco.
Level 2 or Level 3 Prescription Coverage
Retail Co-Pay
- Mandatory Generic Substitution.
- Generic Drugs: $5.00
- Brand Drugs: $10.00 or 20% whichever is greater when no generic is available.
- Brand Drugs when Generic Available: Member pays the difference between the cost of the brand and the generic drug, plus 20% of balance remaining on brand drug.
Mail Order Co-Pay
- Mandatory Generic Substitution.
- 90 day supply available to be filled through mail order.
- Generic Drugs: $10.00
- Brand Drugs: $30.00 when no generic is available.
- Brand Drugs when Generic Available: Member pays the difference between the cost of the brand and the generic drug, plus $30 normal co-pay.
Specialty drugs (injectibles, genetically engineered drugs, etc)
- Must be approved by fund.
- 20% co-pay at Retail or Mail Order
Maximum Member Out of Pocket Expense
- $1000.00 per benefit year.
- Once member reaches threshold all prescriptions paid at 100%.
- Once threshold is met copay is $0 unless brand drugs are filled when a generic is available. In this case the member is still responsible for the differnece between the cost of the brand drug and the generic drug.
Straight Retired Prescription Plan
- No cost to retiree.
- Mandatory Generic Substitution.
- 20% co-pay on all drugs
- Plan pays $750.00 maximum for single members.
- Plan pays $1500.00 maximum for members and eligible spouses.
- After plan maximum is reached card entitles member to a discount off of AWP, plus a dispensing fee.
